I would’ve definitely married this man if he asked me too.

When I see gas prices at $5.40, I just accept that I will never make it in America. Wassup Canada?!

Gentrification in DC is in full effect.

I don’t even feel like typing out this long rant that I initially planned to type because I am tired and disgusted. I’m not sure if their intentions are good or not. I’m not sure if they’re really trying to make a positive change. I don’t know, but I don’t feel they are. As an individual who has grown up between DC & the parts of MD surrounding DC, I have witnessed its culture at its prime & its recent decline. I have witnessed people being forced to move out of their home & their business, because the rent drastically increased just to get rid of them. Mind you some of our people may have indirectly displayed negative stereotypes that encouraged this gentrification process by the people in power, but no one is deserving of this and I don’t want to see this city, my city, diluted. The people in power feel this imperative need to rid the city, Chocolate City, of the very people who helped build this city and made it what it is today (you know, before the people in power came). If these people in power build & rebuild for positive change, why not make it affordable for those who already reside here? It has now become a city that MUST be appealing to and “comfortable” for whites; that inconspicuosly, but really conspicuosly, means getting rid of all things ethnic/black-related. Just know that the nation’s capital has been stripped of its inherent culture and tradition.

Lord knows I love facial hair & a strong jaw. Those lips are just a plus ;)

I am the stone that the builder refused
I am the visual, the inspiration that made lady sing the blues.
I am the spark that makes your idea bright,
the same spark that lights the dark
so that you can see your left from your right.
I am the ballot in your box, the bullet in your gun,
the inner glow that lets you know to call your brother son.
The story that just begun, the promise of whats to come,
And I’mma remain a soldier, ‘til this war is won.

the inner glow that lets you know to call your brother son.

The story that just begun, the promise of whats to come,

And I’mma remain a soldier, ‘til this war is won.

Don’t ever mistake my silence for ignorance, my calmness for acceptance, or my kindness for weakness.

The more time you spend doing nothing with your life is the less time you have to enjoy the benefits of your labor.

Where Have You Been: Rihanna

Rihanna releases her new video for her song “Where Have You Been”, which incorporates great visuals as Rihanna takes you on an exotic journey. In the beginning, of this video, Rihanna appears to be coming out from the water, as some type of sea creature or mermaid (granted many music artists like Lady Gaga seem to be making references to the Mermaid in their videos). At the end of her journey, she returns to the water after her search. Pretty interesting, enjoy!
